This isn't in the book, but nevertheless...

Each year I make piccalilli from my great-grandmother's recipe and try to put up at least two batches each summer, planning to give away a few jars for holiday presents. This version is a sweet relish and tastes fabulous on burgers, hot dogs, etc.  Or the tasty crackers from either Crunchmaster or Mary's Gone Crackers. Reflect on the flavor, I bet my dad's Corton recipe will be tasty topped with piccalilli.

The Outlander Cookbook only has one recipe for piccalilli, but it uses ripened tomatoes and sounds spicier than this one.
Yay! They're done!
I remembered a mention of Mrs. Bug's piccalilli in one book and took to the internet in search of the recipe. The Outlander Kitchen website does not disappoint.

The link will get you to the actual recipe but have a look around. The Battlefield Blackberry Jam recipe sounds like the perfect use of my husband's bramble pickings. Hopefully, we'll have enough berries for this recipe and at least one cobbler.

I'm on break from school now and heading to London tomorrow. After eight week's of Cognitive Theory and Aging, plus a huge term paper about the financial and emotional effects of a misdiagnosis of dementia, I'm ready for something different.  So, I'm off to a self-guided cider tour and ancient architecture!
